How important is it for you to retain your cultural foods as you move forward in life? Explain the importance and which foods you cannot live without.

 Prompt Response: Retaining your cultural foods are important because it represent your identity. It helps you stay grounded in your roots. I can't live without tibs and doro wot. Those are my favorite Ethiopian dishes and they taste really good. Keeping these foods in my life are important because I don't want to forget who I am.  Prompt Response: If my privacy was invaded online or on my phone I would be mad and scared. Privacy is a big thing to me. Privacy is a basic civil liberty because being invaded can be unsafe and make you uncomfortable. Nobody should have to feel uncomfortable 24/7 after their personal information got leaked.  Prompt Response: Over the break it was imperative I saw my friends. I was tired of driving so I importuned my friends to drive me around. We also ate but my friend was impecunious, so I paid for his food. It is ignoble he is grown without money. While we were driving there was an accident on the road which was an impediment that made it longer to get home. Summary: Today in class we did our comic strip. Reflection: Today in class we did our comic strip. School today was boring. I have work today so I am going to be up tonight doing homework.

Describe your idea of a perfect day spent with someone you care about.

 Prompt Response: A perfect day with my best friend is playing basketball during the day. We would sweat good then go back home and shower. After we shower and relax we leave the house to do fun activities. Some of the activities we would do are hang out with more of our friends. Sleeping over at his house after a long night out would seal the deal. Summary: Today in class we worked on our one pager. Reflection: Today school was fun. There was a lockdown drill today.  Prompt Response: A time I had to push myself beyond what I thought was possible was when I was running the pacer gram test. The guys average around 40 laps. I wanted to go beyond what everyone would think was possible. I kept running until lap 125. The whole pacer gram was 130 laps. I was the only person running by lap 80. I could not believe I made it that far. I was breathing so hard it felt like I was going to faint. Summary: Today in class we started our one pager. Reflection: Today in class we started our one pager. We read a Maya Angelou poem as well. Today school was boring. I'm at the library right now studying for my quiz tomorrow.

 Prompt Response: A time where I had to rely on my mother during a time of need was when I needed her to send me money. I was driving and my gas tank was completely low. I also had warning sign everywhere. I called my dad but he was not picking up the phone. I called my mom after and she sent me gas money. This was clutch because I did not want to be stuck on the side of the road. Summary: Today in class we read a play by Maya Angelou. Reflection: Today in class we read a play by Maya Angelou. We also annotated the poem. Today school was alright. I am at home now relaxing.

What life skills have you learned in high school that will help you live independently after high school? Which skills do you think are essential for your success after high school?

 Prompt Response: I believe it is important to socialize. School has taught me to make friends and socialize. I would use this in the real world to network. I can make money and live independently with this skill. A degree and socializing is a skill that is important for my success after High School. Summary: Today in class we did a NewsELA. It's Super Bowl weekend! Some people watch the Super Bowl for football, others for the commercials, and some just for the halftime show. What’s your favorite part of big events like this, and why?

Prompt Response: The game is my favorite part of the whole experience. That's the main reason of the whole event. That brings in the most revenue and everyone watches the big game. It is all about entertainment and a way for people to make money. Betting is big which makes the game more enjoyable because you have money on the line. What is the most challenging part of writing an essay for you? Is it brainstorming, organizing ideas, writing a strong thesis, or something else? How do you plan to overcome this challenge?

 Prompt Response: The hardest part of writing an essay is the hook. The introduction is hard because first it's hard to think about how I want my essay to start. What would grab the readers attention? But once I got that down I can write for a long time. I plan to overcome this by just thinking deep. Summary: Today in class we wrote an introduction paragraph. Prompt Response: I would write up the ups and downs at school. School is so much harder now. I have to apply to college and I have a lot of workload on me. I also have to play catch up. My poem would show trials and tribulations. It would not be a perfect butterflies and rainbows poem. Summary: Today in class we took notes on what a thesis is. Describe a time when you had to speak in front of an audience. What were your fears? How did you handle them? What advice would you give to someone struggling with stage fright?

 Prompt Response: In 4th grade I was in my Black History program. I was very scared because I hate large crowds. I handled it by taking deep breathes and believing nobody was in the room. Everyone should so this. It makes the time go by faster and helps you calm down. Summary: Today in class we took notes on formal and informal language.
